SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP

Every year, Women in Journalism offer one Social Media Internship.

The intern assists our administrator Kate McMillan in updating and improving our website; helping to manage our Twitter account, which was 12,000 followers, keeping an eye on a LinkedIn group, attending various events throughout the year and writing blog posts for our website.

In return, we pay our intern £100 a month plus expenses, a year’s free membership and free tickets to all of our events. The intern also takes her place on our committee, which meets about three times a year, making this, in particular, a brilliant way of boosting personal development and enhancing contacts among our membership.

At the end of the internship, which is initially for one year, we will provide a reference and any further support needed.

Grace Holliday is our social media intern for 2017/2018.

Grace is a freelance journalist, content writer and social media manager who has written for the Guardian, Buzzfeed, Cosmopolitan and Time Out, amongst others. As a Scott Trust bursary alumnus, she recently completed her Journalism MA and NCTJ diploma at the University of Sheffield. You can check out some of her most recent work at Grace Holliday Freelance, and find her tweeting @GraceHolliday and from our Twitter account, WIJ_UK.
