The Women in Journalism 2017 summer party was held on Monday 24 July 2017 at the Ned, 27 Poultry, London. We would like to thank The Ned for hosting our 200 guests, and Perrier Jouet who provided champagne.

Eve Pollard, honorary President of WIJ, and Eleanor Mills, WIJ chair and editorial director of the Sunday Times, spoke at the event, which took place shortly after the pay gap between female and male presenters at the BBC was revealed. Pollard, who started WIJ with the late Guardian journalist Georgina Henry, said that the organisation had been founded in part to close the gender pay gap.

Rebecca Vincent, UK Bureau Director of Reporters without Borders spoke about the Cumhurriyet journalists on trial in Turkey, and made a short video in support.
