Mslexia magazine is looking for someone to write The Knowledge, a quarterly feature about genre fiction. Each feature focuses on a single popular genre (e.g. police procedural, women’s saga, YA fantasy), identifying recent trends and distilling a tongue-in-cheek ‘recipe’ for success. Whoever takes this on will need to scour literary websites and the Bookseller and talk to authors, agents and editors in the know.

The series is in the ‘Reading for Writers’ section in the magazine, where writers are urged to examine books from a writerly point of view. We are hoping to commission a writer from a BAME of working-class background. The fee for each piece is £200 and the deadline for the first is 2 November. Contact the Edtor, Debbie Taylor, with a brief CV and a recent sample of work.
