WIJ is making Monday’s must-attend event with Sam McAlister purely online. It will no longer be held at Future Dreams House in Kings Cross due to huge interest from non-London based members and difficulties caused by Covid and forecast record temperatures for that day.

The great news is that since agreeing to talk to us about securing that incredible interview with Prince Andrew for Newsnight, Sam’s book, Scoop: Behind The Scenes Of The BBC’s Most Shocking Interviews, is to be made into a major feature film.

If you want to hear more and get great insights into securing major exclusives or wondered how Newsnight producer, Sam McAlister, scooped THAT interview with Prince Andrew join us.  Sam will tell all about how she clinched the interview once described as ‘a plane crashing into an oil tanker, causing a tsunami, triggering a nuclear explosion’.  Three years later it is still having repercussions for the Royal Family.

Sam’s former BBC colleagues’ called her the ‘booker extraordinaire’, responsible for many more of Newsnight’s exclusives including an interview with Julian Assange.

Sam will be ‘In Conversation With’ journalist, broadcaster and royal commentator, Sarah Hewson . She will discuss how she got those interviews and the changes we are all facing to our media landscape.  She is not only the queen of persuasion but the first in her family to go to University, a trained barrister and a single mum. An event not to be missed. The event will tie in with the  launch of Sam’s book, Scoops: Behind the Scenes of the BBC’s Most Shocking Interviews.

The evening will be introduced by Genelle Aldred , WiJ deputy chair, Communication Strategist Consultant & Broadcaster
