We really know at WIJ what it’s like to work from home, and how staying in touch with others is vital for our sanity. So we would like to commission a member to write a “how to” piece on using online apps, tools to for meetings, chats while we are isolated at home – Google hangouts, Zoom, WhatsApp video calls and Facetime (can you do those two with more than one person?).  It could be your own idiot-proof descriptions, or links to best YouTube vids, screenshots or a mixture of the three.  500-800 words should do it, we think, listicle format. £200 flat fee. We will post the piece on our website and link to our Facebook group page and Twitter.

Send your pitch to Hilly.Janes@gmail.com, inlcude your phone number please. We won’t reply to everyone who pitches, apologies in advance.

Postponed events – now you can look forward to them later in the year!

– Pay gap event at a BBC radio theatre chaired by Carrie Gracie to discuss challenges and solutions

– In Conversation with Roula Khalaf, recently appointed editor of the FT

– Donna Ferguson’s hugely popular ‘How to write the perfect pitch’ workshop

– Summer party: we are planning to provisionally book a space in July so that we can have a massive bash if/when we are allowed out to play again.

In the meantime you can join our Facebook group to ask for advice, post your (only) supportive and helpful comments, or post or start a thread on Twitter @WIJ_UK. Lots of helpful stuff on both already.

Keep well

Kate and Hilly
