Freelancer tax returns with HW Fisher

Tax returns are part of every freelance journalists year.

There are so many questions around what can you claim for with expenses? When should you start doing your return? Can you pay in installments? Should you get an accountant or do it yourself?

There's a lot to think about and this quick session will help you answer some of the most pressing questions before the deadline date.

Barry Kernon is an accounting and tax consultant advising media clients at HW Fisher.

He works with many authors, journalists, artists, musicians, producers, directors and others in the media world, and specialise in the tax treatment of individuals in the creative industries. He has many years’ experience of providing specialist advice in tax planning, reducing tax liabilities, including the use of limited companies and strategic business advice, as well as accounts preparation. I advise clients on all tax matters, including VAT.

He is Honorary Treasurer of the Society of Authors and was once nominated to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace in recognition of his many years of service.
